Meet "Sally" the Scarecrow

Today we built a scarecrow and I have been told that it's job is to scare the birds away (usually from the garden). We planted our scarecrow in the garden but since there is nothing left for birds to pick at, we are hoping that it scares the bear away from the compost bin.

Of course our scarecrow isn't that scary looking but maybe the fact that it looks human is enough to deter the bears. But knowing our luck the bear will probably knock her over and maul her!

Falling leaves

Today was such a beautiful day that it inspired me to have a little fun in the leaves. Mummy has been busy taking pictures all weekend and caught me in the act of throwing some leaves. Mummy also taught me the fun of jumping into a pile of freshly raked leaves and I showed her how to chase leaves around the yard.

Pumpkin carving

Our pumpkin has been sitting outside waiting for us to carve it and this weekend proved to be the right time cause the bear was back and poked it's grubby claws into it. So we figure we better get it carved and maybe the bear won't bug it.



I got to help mummy by poking my poker tool into the pumpkin and later I got to take my scooper tool and scoop out the seeds and guts. We put a funny face on the pumpkin and a lot of little breathing holes as I like to call them (that's what happens when I got a hold of the poker). Oh well if it rains at least the pumpkin won't fill up with water!

When it was all done we put a candle in it and set it up on the rock wall and hoped that the bear wouldn't come back and eat it. trying to blow out the candle

Annual Pumpkin Patch visit

This morning we headed out for our annual trek to the pumpkin patch in search of the best pumpkin and of course pictures. This year we even brought daddy along with us so he could enjoy the mucky fields.

Of course I spent most of my time on the old tractor and tried to convince the other kids not to touch the controls (I almost won except that Keira she's quick!)

This year we (Keira and I) got to ride a little tractor train through the fields, it was quite bumpy but was otherwise fun. Then daddy set up the tripod and tried to get a good shot of all of us, it was a little difficult but we managed to get most everyone facing forward (except Olivia)

Now we get to take the little pumpkin we got and carve funny faces on it and take it to Grandma and Grampa's house.

Building a wall

For the last couple weekends, mummy and daddy have been busy building a rock wall. Yesterday daddy started building the stairs and I had to supervise him to make sure they were done properly. Once it's all done, I will be able to climb up and down and test out my balancing skills.

I also had fun chalking my playground, pulling weeds and re-planting them, gravel removal and tractor supervision. It was a nice day to play outside and mummy told me that all that fresh air should help me with my cold.

Later that night after dinner we got to spend 4 hours at emergency cause I pulled my other elbow out of socket in my highchair. Mummy is thinking that maybe it's time we just sat in a chair on my knees cause this is the second time I have done this while sitting in my highchair.

Mummy and daddy were getting very tired waiting at the hospital but I did pretty good considering I didn't get to bed till midnight. Mummy is now on a rant about how we need to have a Ped's. emergency cause there were a lot of sick kids there last night and we all had to wait cause there was only one doctor on duty and it seemed that all the silly drunks who fell and hit their heads got to be seen first. On the plus side it was a medical student who put my elbow back together and now because the doctor had to instruct her, daddy seems to think that if this should happen another time he is quite capable of putting it back in all by himself. Mummy is just hoping that if it happens another time it happens earlier in the day!
