Catching up

Now that my mum's life has gotten busier with work there doesn't seem to be as much time to spare for my blog, but with my help and encouragement we will try to maintain this.
So we left off with all the fun stuff that happened from Summer to Halloween. Chritmas was great fun, I got lots of cool toys such as a crane, tons of lego and playmobile, a cool plane that zooms really far outside, and a guitar
and lots of other stuff. What was really nice about Christmas was that my uncle Dave game down again this year so I have ben able to see him more often.
We did our traditional New year eve sledding
and sleepover at Auntie Kim and Uncle Franks. We all tried the really long hill and I tried it without a tobaggan!
It was a little scary cause it was really long and the snow shot up into my face so afterwards I just went on the little hills. We even tried the train again and managed to make it down the hill without falling off or unattaching ourselves.

But I must say the highlight to the new year was going to Hawaii for my 5th birthday!

Mummy, daddy and Nonna and I headed to Maui for 10 days and I got to see all sorts of fish, a turtle and humpback whales. I went to my first luau where much to my disappointment there were no fire dancers (maybe next time) but there were lots of cute girls and lots of bare bummed guys! We went on the sugarcane train, went to the aquarium, mummy and daddy went snorkeling and we played in the sand on the beaches.

This is definitely a place that we will go to again but maybe when I'm a bit older so that I can go snorkeling and swim in the waves.
When we got back home we had a party with my family and I got some nice birthday gifts and another cake. Turning 5 really rocked!
Since then I have been busy with skating, break-dancing and my last year of strong start school. I was a clown for the skating carnival and even had a little extra part cause i skate so well. My break-dancing is going really well and I enjoy learning how to do handstands.
Some of the things i have been working on are learning to ride my bike without the training wheels, printing my whole name before September, tying my shoelaces and doing up buttons. Mum tells me that I will also need to learn to eat breakfast before school starts or my tummy and me will be cranky!
Lots of stuff to do and learn before school starts in September!

Halloween and Fall adventures

We are definitely into some Fall weather now and I'm sure that snow will soon be on it's way. We have tried to make the most of the weather but with mummy working now 4days a week now, I don't get to see my friends much. I spend 2 days a week with my grandparents and 2 days a week at Nonnas and i have been helping them with their outside clean-ups. I have helped till the gardens and move bulbs around and rake leaves and mulch around. I have been working so much that I have now told mummy that I will help her and daddy with work at home (I'm getting it in writing!)
Being so busy i have managed to squeak a few fun things such as going to Willow Farms in Abbotsford and playing with my friends and wandering thru the apple and pumpkin fields,
going for a long hike thru the Othello Tunnels with my parents and friends, having a bonfire up at the house with fiends over and of course going Trick or treating.
Along with all of this I have been taking break dancing classes on Mondays so I have some real cool moves to show off at the next family gathering. I am also in Canskate now on Wednesday with mummy and learning lots of challenging stuff, and am just finishing my first year of soccer.
Now it's time to start making Christmas lists and assuring Santa that I have been good or at least hope that he hasn't had too many spies looking at me.

Where has the summer gone?

Life has a way of just speeding past and before you know it you have gotten into letting things slide by because you never seem to have time anymore. Unfortunately updating the blog has been one of those things that have slid by. But not to worry cause I plan to cram in all the fun stuff that we did or didn't get to do this summer.

We did manage to get in 2 camping trips this summer but had been hoping for another one but alas that darn time thing and weather turning yucky the last couple weeks have derailed that idea. Jacob got to try quadding for the first time and seemed to like it though we have no plans to purchase him a dirt bike or quad anytime in this life. He took a couple rides with his cousin Craig and Uncle Pete and luckily his cousin Meagen has a small head or either that or Jacob has a large head!

We spent a few day trips at the beaches this year as well with our friends and spent some time trying to hook some of those fast little fishies. Now that Jacob has a little net he thinks that he can scoop up some minnows but they are very clever and fast so they manage to sneak by him. Jacob also got to try his hand at fishing from the canoe, though it wasn't as exciting as he thought it would be especially since he didn't catch anything. Maybe next year he can try his hand at fishing for salmon.
Jacob got to show off his dapper side this summer by participating as the ring bearer at his sister Taylor's wedding. He was very handsome and did a great job and even entertained us later at the reception with his breakdancing skills.

He got to glam it up with a bunch of teenage girls which when he's older he will appreciate! He got to hang out with his cousins alot this summer and played house, vet, store, swim in the pool, go to the park, ride bikes and eat lots of ice-cream. Ah a child's life!
We have also gone on some great hikes and walks this summer as we are trying to stop mother nature from creeping up on our backsides and enlarging them. Now that Jacob is getting older he is able to keep up and sometimes outrun his old parents so the hikes are getting longer.
And of course we went again this year to Playland and brought along Tessa and Meagen to share in the fun. Jacob was tall enough this year to go on the water ride and so we all packed into a car after waiting for an hour and got all wet. I even managed to get Meagen on her first roller coaster this year so hopefully they'll be lots of kids in the family to go on rides with. We had a great day with lots of sunshine and finally an exhausted kid!
We took advantage of the Chilliwack Flight fest this year and even Uncle Dave came out for a visit. For a week after we had paper airplanes flying around the house as Jacob perfected his flight patterns.
This summer has also shown mummy that her little guy is growing up cause he has gotten bigger in height but still has not one pound of fat on him thereby causing a lot of pants and shorts to be cinched tight. He has been learning how to assert his independence and strong will and has amazed us with his hearing and ability to repeat things that unbeknown to us he has heard! *Note to Parents* - You may want to start thinking of secret codes before your child can talk so you don't suffer any embarrassing moments!

Now we are truly heading into Fall and are looking forward to halloween and Christmas. Jacob has only been mentioning what he wants for Christmas since oh about June and the list gets longer and changes regularly! We are hoping to still get out and enjoy some nice days before it gets really cold or rainy but hopefully that won't stop the fun that we can experience. Before you know it it will be January once again and then my little boy will be 5!

What have i been up to you ask?

Mummy is getting to be quite delinquent with keeping the postings up to date so we are going pack in a lot of stuff on this post.
Last month we headed into Vancouver to Science World. It was my first trip there and we brought along my cuz Meagen to liven up the trip. We met up with our friends Olivia, Damien, Avery, Keira and Natalie. There are lots of fun things to do at Science world like play in a river where you can rearrange the flow of the water, running over a big piano, trying to lift yourself in a big chair and climbing into a tree. We managed to try out most of the fun things and best of all none of us came away kicking and screaming.

Again, with my friends we have done some more exploring to places like the Heron reserve, the Cheam wetlands and the fish hatchery. I have seen tons of frogs, minnows, birds and turtles. I'm thinking with all the animals that i have seen lately that if i was to catch them all I could start my own zoo!

Gearing up for Summer

Spring it seems is heading on it's way out like a lion and because of that we have had a few challenges with getting the gardens ready. But never one to let an opportunity slide by we managed to get some flowers in the tub and some veggies in the garden. Now all we need is some nice sunny summer weather to help everything grow!

Easter

Now that mummy has a job for the next few months, the schedule around here is wacky. So it wasn't until Monday that we celebrated Easter with the family. Of course I never really had a clue that i was missing out on anything so waiting till Monday had no affect on me.
Sunday morning did see me decorating eggs with mummy and daddy and I made some very colorful ones.

Then I spent the rest of the day with daddy helping him get mummy's
3rd garden bed all finished so we can plant the veggies. This one involved a bit more preparation cause we had to build a rock wall around it and then mummy also wanted a raised garden box built so she would have even more room. I think we did a great job and got all but the box finished.
Monday morning dawned and I thought I should try out one of those eggs that I decorated. Note to self... they really aren't that tasty no matter what the outside might look like! I guess I'll just stick to making them look pretty.
Since daddy had to work it was just mummy and me so we got busy making the dessert for dinner at Grandma and Grampas. Finally daddy got home and we went to pick up Nonna and head over for dinner. It was a pretty loud affair and the food was yummy.
After dinner we finally got to search for what the "Easter bunny" AKA Mummy & Auntie Kim hid. We each had our own clue and you would think that me being the youngest that I would need the most help but you would be wrong. All my cousins were a bit challenged in the search department (though Kristen did find Tessa's loot). It got to a point where they even had to play hot/cold and ended up sounding like the seagulls from Nemo!

After all said and done though we got lots of chocolate and even some toys. I think I like these random holidays.

Jacob's musings and other genetic insights

So I must admit that Jacob is a clever little guy, of which I can freely admit he doesn't inherit from me ...he gets his good looks from me ;)

We are often amazed by the things that come out of his mouth and some of the things he does. So, I thought I'd share some stuff that makes us go 'Hmmm'.

"Mummy, you can share your lunch with me 'cause I am cute and so are you." (Really sucking up here!)

Jacob as he is building something: "Wow, I'm a genius!"

At dinner with his cousin, daddy and mummy, after I was trying to tell him I was brilliant: "Daddy, Meagen and me are geniuses and mummy is smart!"

Outside, when he discovered his dad drove the tractor over one of his dirt construction projects: "Daddy, it appears you've wrecked my gate."

One day, when his Grandma asked him something, his answer was simply "Apparently."

(Editor's note: Apparently, it appears Jacob's genius does come from his father, not his cute - and smart - mother!)

Skates, lunch and Zoo- whew I'm tired

On Wednesday mummy and I skipped going to school cause we had errands to do and people to see. Number one on the list was to drive into Surrey to buy me some new skates cause the ones I'm wearing now just aren't strong enough for my feet anymore. I have been wearing white skates and then we stick some black tape on them but this time I really wanted to have orange tape. Alas to my disbelief they don't make orange tape so we compromised and got some bright orange laces instead. Then because I was being somewhat good mummy bought me a second pair of skates for when my feet get bigger and these ones are already black with new guards. Now I am committed to skating till at least size 13.5!
After skate shopping we headed into Abbotsford to have lunch with the gals cause it was Crazy Barb's birthday. I like having lunch with all those girls and I like going to the restuarant to watch the train drive overtop my head. What was even neater was we all got a goody bag filled with sugary treats. YUM!
But the best part of the day was when mumy said we could meet up with Hayden and Carson at the Zoo. Now you might think I was excited to see the animals but really I like running on the track and pretending to be either a train or a plane. I did stop occasionaly to look at the animals or shout at them and even pet the donkey but it really was all about running around like a uncaged animal.

You are probably thinking that after all this activity and excitement that I fell asleep on the way home but you would be wrong. We even passed Darla and noticed that both Sara and Carson were fast asleep but nope not me cause I run on and on like the energizer bunny till I crash and burn at dinner! You guessed it not a pretty site to witness but we all survived and I have lived another day to test the limits of my world.

Messing around

We went to the river the other day with my friends Olivia and Damien and we got to messing around and came away with more mess.
First we decided that we needed to make some soup so out came the bucket, the sand, some grass, water and the special ingredient - dog hair.

As appetizing as it looked we didn't really want to taste it so we went on to try something way more tastier. Blueberries! They were very good and after finishing them, mummy couldn't decide if they made me dirtier than playing in the mud did.

It was a wonderful day to play in the sun and I'm looking forward to having lots of fun days this spring and summer.

I can fly, I can Fly, I can fly!

Last week we went to the park with my friend Keira and we got to ride our bikes there. I have gotten really fast at riding but you couldn't tell that day as I was experiencing a "moment". Anyway the park that we went to has a really neat skateboard place that I like to ride around on and run around on. That day I also thought it would be a great place to test out my flying skills.

One day soon I'll be ready for when Peter Pan comes to my window and takes me off to Neverland.

Can you feel the love?

I love my cousin Meagen. She's a girl but she still likes to play games with me. I hope that we can always have fun together.
